I started my marketing agency in 2009 and boy, did I have a lot to learn. The first thing I did was educate myself on social media networks.

It was new and very few owners were using it yet so I thought it’d be a great place to start… low competition and all.

I was hesitant at first but quickly realized if I wanted my social media business to grow I was going to have to get into the weeds and learn how it all worked.

I dug in and quickly learned as much as I could about creating effective, converting websites and I was off to put what I learned into practice.

The more I dug into the marketing of SMBs, I quickly came to understand there was so much more I had to learn like SEO (Search Engine Optimization), writing or creating content, video creation, email marketing, and well… you know the list goes on.

So that’s exactly what I did. I dug in and over the past 13 years, I don’t think there is a marketing channel, process, or avenue I haven’t either done personally or been a part of.

So I share this story to reassure you, that it takes time.

It’s taken me 13 years to learn what I have and grow my digital skills to the level I’m at today. And it’s going to take you some time to find the best marketing channels for you.

Be patient, dig in, and know that the more you learn and implement the better you’ll get and the better your results will be.
